When it comes to creating content for your business, the biggest question I hear is: “What gear do I really need?” The truth is, you don’t always need the most expensive camera or setup to make professional-looking content. Sometimes your iPhone will do the job, sometimes you’ll want a dedicated camera, and sometimes all you need is the right strategy.
That’s where I come in. My team and I help businesses like yours get the content they need — from testimonials to event recaps — without all the stress of figuring it out alone. But before you book us, let me give you some tips that can help you create better content today.
Gear Doesn’t Have to Be Complicated 🎥
Yes, you can shoot great content with your iPhone. But depending on your business, you may want something more versatile. Tools like the Osmo Pocket 3 or a GoPro are lightweight, easy to use, and produce crisp 4K footage with solid audio.
If you want to take it up a notch, I recommend looking at cameras like the Sony A7S3 for video or the Sony A7R3 for photography. Just remember... the magic is often in the lens, not just the camera body.
For most business owners, a 35mm lens gives you flexibility for photos and video. If you’re vlogging or moving around a lot, a 16–35mm can be lighter and easier to handle than a heavy 24–70mm setup.
Don’t Sleep on Audio 🎙
If you’re capturing testimonials, event recaps, or behind-the-scenes footage, audio is just as important as video. Tools like the DJI Mic or Hollyland mics deliver clean, professional sound without the mess of wires or handheld “roach-looking” mics (you know the ones).
Remember — your visuals grab attention, but your audio keeps people watching.
Keep It Steady 📱
Shaky, handheld shots? We’re not doing that anymore. Luckily, the latest iPhones already come with built-in stabilization, so your footage stays smooth without extra gear. And if you are shooting with a camera, make sure you’re using a tripod when possible. Stability = professionalism.
Capture the Right Content for Your Business 💼
If you’re in the service industry — catering, events, fitness, salons — your content strategy should focus on:
Client testimonials (builds trust)
Event recaps (shows your vibe + experience)
Products/services in action (proves what you deliver)
Think of every recap or testimonial as a mini commercial that works for you long after the event is over.
Lighting Is Everything 💡
Good lighting makes a huge difference. If your budget allows, grab lights like Aperture or Nanlite. But even with natural light, you can get amazing results if you position yourself correctly. The key is consistency — your audience needs to see you clearly.
Know Your Audience 👀
Not every piece of content will “go viral.” Some will flop, and that’s okay. What matters is knowing what your audience wants to see and separating business from personal. Keep business content on your business page. That’s where your audience will connect with what you’re selling.
And remember: likes don’t always equal sales. Focus on creating content that drives people to invest in your business, not just double-tap your post.
Final Thoughts : Content creation isn’t about having the fanciest gear — it’s about having a strategy, knowing your audience, and producing content that actually grows your business. You can start small with your phone or step it up with a camera, but the essentials stay the same: great visuals, great audio, stability, lighting, and strategy.
If you’re ready to take your business content seriously, that’s where I come in. My company provides the equipment, the strategy, and the production to help you capture testimonials, recaps, and branded content that works.
